If you can get spirals or curves (which are portions of a spiral) into your pictures that will make them quite interesting.

Use close ups and crop your pictures tight on a subject...

Play with shadows...

Backlighting is your friend...

Take a bunch of pics of the same scene...

...one might turn out a lot cooler than the rest.
